For eight seasons (1981 to 1988), he played at the tight end position in the National Football League with the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots.
Born Willie Louie Scott, Jr., he attended Newberry High School in South Carolina and played collegiate football at the University of South Carolina.
While with the Gamecocks, he led the team in both receptions and yards in 1980 and contributed to their appearance in the Gator Bowl (1980). Selected by the Kansas City Chiefs during the 14th round of the 1981 NFL Draft, he totaled 98 career regular season games.
In 1983, he produced a career high 29 receptions, and 6 touchdowns. He died from multiple organ failure.
