Violeta Dávalos Lara was an opera singer whose tessitura was lirico-spinto soprano.
She studied singing with Professor Enrique Jaso at the National School of Music of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She debuted with the leading role in “Aída” by Verdi. In 1994 she inaugurated the Theater of Arts at the National Center of the Arts in Mexico with a revival of the opera “Ildegonda” by the Mexican composer Melesio Morales, in which she played the main role.
Throughout her career, she has performed in the United States, Spain and countries in Central America. She premiered operas “El regreso de Orestes” by Roberto Bañuelas; and “Alicia” and “Brindis por un Milenio” by Federico Ibarra.
Other works are “Tata Vasco” by Miguel Bernal Jiménez, “Ambrosio” by José Antonio Guzmán, “Cantata Homenaje a Juárez” by Blas Galindo and “Novena Sinfonía” by Ludwig van Beethoven.
