He played the linebacker position for the National Football League’s Washington Redskins from 1970 to 1977. After playing football collegiately at Northern Arizona University, he went undrafted in the 1970 National Football League Draft and signed with the Washington Redskins.
He became a special teams standout in his eight seasons with the Redskins. Nicknamed “The King” in his playing days, he played seven different special teams positions and was voted the team’s special teams captain from 1974-77.
After retiring in 1977, he went on to become an assistant coach for various NFL teams, including the Seattle Seahawks, where he coached for 16 years. He also spent one year in wrestling promoter Vince McMahon’s XFL, coaching the New York/New Jersey Hitmen.
