Rosa Lee Hawkins, Youngest Member of the Dixie Cups.
She was best known as one of the singers on the group The Dixie Cups, who had such hits as “Chapel of Love” and “Iko Iko.
” She, along with her sister Barbara Ann and cousin Joan Marie Johnson, had been singing since childhood and were named The Dixie Cups before their first release “Chapel of Love” in 1964.
“Chapel of Love” hit number one in June of 1964 and the group later had other hits including “People Say,” “You Should Have Seen the Way He Looked at Me,” “Little Bell,” and “Iko Iko.
” The group would go into a recording hiatus by 1966, but they (along with several member changes) continued to perform in concerts into the 21st Century.
