Ronnie Wilson American Musical Artist
Best known as one of the founders of the Tulsa based R&B group, The Gap Band. Wilson, along with his brothers, Charlie and Robert began their careers as the backing band for multi-instrumentalist, Leon Russell. In 1979, the group achieved success with the release of their first two major label albums.
Their third eponymous album, The Gap Band III soared to number one on the R&B charts, producing three hit singles. 1982’s The Gap Band IV repeated the successes of their prior albums, spawning hits such as “Early in the Morning,” ”Oustanding,” and perhaps their most recognized single, “You Dropped a Bomb on Me.”
Over the next seventeen years, the band released nine more studio albums. The band performed together for thirty-six years before retiring in 2010.
