Roberto González was part of the rock movement and performer of son jarocho. His family moved from Veracruz to Mexico City in the early 1960s.

He met Jaime López at the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria 5 of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He began in the 1970s in the Colectivo de la Nueva Canción, a musical movement based on folk, the new trova and the traditional Latin American song.

His first performancewas at the rock “El Nagual” in 1973. He formed a group with Jaime López, Emilia Almazán and Guadalupe Sánchez, releasing the album “Roberto y Jaime: Sesiones con Emilia” in 1980. From 1985 to 1986 he was part of the band Real de Catorce.
