Luz María Puente was an American born Mexican pianist. She received several major prizes. Her son Jorge Federico Osorio is also a pianist.

She was born in Los Angeles and lived in Mexico since she was very young. She started on the piano at the age of five. Upon his arrival in Mexico City, she studied at the National Conservatory of Music under the instruction of Alberto Montero and Angélica Morales.

She learned chamber music with Sandor Roth and took advanced courses with Henryk Szeryng. She continued to work on his piano technique with Bernard Flavigny, Jörg Demus, Michele Campanella, and Guido Agosti in Mexico City, Mexico, and Siena, Italy.

She performed as a soloist with almost all the symphony orchestras in Mexico and performed in the main concert halls of Brussels, Geneva, New York, Nurgember, Paris, Rome, Vienna, under the guidance of conductors such as José Guadalupe Flores, Enrique Diemecke, Armando Vargas, Enrique Batiz, Sergiu Celibidache, Carlos Chávez, Luis Herrera de la Fuente, Jerzy Semkow, Lorin Maazel, Eduardo Mata and José F. Vásquez.
