Former Prime Minister of South Korea

South Korean Statesman. He served as the 33rd Prime Minister of South Korea from May 22, 2000 to July 11, 2002. He served six terms as a lawmaker from 1981-2000 before been named prime minister by President Kim Dae-jung in 2000.

He would go on to serve in this position for the next two years before stepping down to make a bid for the presidency.

His bid was unsuccessful and two years later, he was indicted without detention on charges of taking illegal political funds worth 200 million won (US$170,000) in cash from SK Group during the presidential election.

The Seoul Central District Court handed him a two-year suspended sentence and ordered him to pay 200 million won in restitution for the illegal funds.
