José Antonio Rodríguez is considered one of the great historians of photography in Mexico. Rodríguez practiced photographic criticism in the newspaper “El Financiero” and published essays in national and international magazines.

He published several books, including “Edward Weston, la mirada de la ruptura” (1994), “Bernice Kolko, fotógrafa” (1996), “10 Mexican Photographers: A Select End – of – the Century Generation” (1999), “Agustín Jiménez : memorias de la vanguardia” (2008), and “Fotógrafas en México, 1872-1960” (2012).

He was editor of the magazine “Alquimia” of the National Photographic System of Mexico and a professor in photographic analysis at various universities.
