Jim Bertelsen American Football Player (1950–2021)
Born James Allen Bertelsen, he was raised in Wisconsin where he attended Hudson High School. He enrolled at the University of Texas where he played collegiate football. During this period, he contributed to the Longhorns sharing of two National Championships (1969 and 1970) under Hall of Fame coach Darrell Royal while establishing himself as one of the school’s all-time rushing greats.
Selected by the Los Angeles Rams during the 2nd round of the 1972 NFL Draft, he totaled 68 career regular season games. He distinguished himself in 1973, when he achieved Pro-Bowl honors after producing a career-high 854 rushing yards.
