He played the defensive tackle position for the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers and the American Football League’s San Diego Chargers, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets from 1959 to 1966.
He started his collegiate career at the University of Southern California before being a part of the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. From 1957 to 1958, he played football at Trinity University in Texas. He was drafted in the 6th Round of the 1958 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers and went on to play for them for two seasons before joining the San Diego Chargers of the American Football League in 1961.
He played for the Chargers for the next four years and was a member of their 1963 American Football League championship-winning team. In 1965, he joined the Buffalo Bills and played for them for one season.
That year turned out to be his best season as he was an AFL All Pro and played in the 1965 AFL Championship game. He played his final season in 1966 as a member of the New York Jets before retiring from pro football. After retirement, he went into the insurance business
