For five seasons (1971 to 1975), he played at the first base position with the Chicago Cubs and Montreal Expos. Born Harold Noel Breeden, he attended Albany High School in Georgia, prior to being signed as an amateur free agent by the Milwaukee Braves in 1963.
He was traded to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for future Hall of Fame pitcher Hoyt Wilhelm in 1970. Breeden made his Major League debut on April 7, 1971 and played in 23 games that season with the Cubs.
He produced a career-high 71 hits, with 15 home runs while in a Montreal Expos’ uniform in 1973. In 274 career regular season games, he compiled 148 hits with a .243 lifetime batting average. After retiring from baseball, he worked in law enforcement in his native Georgia.
