Gilberto Rendón Ortíz was a Mexican writer and storyteller, author of children’s and youth literature such as “Códice del muchachito encantado,” “Tuiiiii, el murciélago,” and “El misterio de la cajita de ópalo.”
He began his career in 1973. Among the recognitions he has received are the Castillo de la Lectura Award (2003) for “La saga de los jugadores de pelota,” El Barco de Vapor (1998) and White Ravens (2000) awards for “Los cuatro amigos de siempre,” Gran Angular Prize (1998) for “El almogávar,” Miscaltia Award (1997) for his career in children’s culture, the Juan de la Cabada National Children’s Story Award (1982) for “Pok a tok, el juego de pelota” and Casa de las Américas Award in the Genre of Children’s and Youth Literature (1981) by “Grillito Socoyote en el circo de pulgas y otros cuentos de animales.”
