American Singer
Former R&B lead singer of the legendary Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes. In 1982, he replaced the then lead singer David Ebo in the group.
He had a powerful gruff voice that was the near perfect touch to handle both the group’s 1970’s hits on tour and the lead vocals on The Talk It Up album. The album had little response in the U.S., but became a moderate hit in other parts of the world, producing three chart singles, “Today’s Your Lucky Day,” “Don’t Give Me Up” and “I Really Love You.”
It became the Blue Notes’ final charting album. He toured extensively overseas with acts like Billy Paul and The Three Degrees. He left the Bluenotes in the mid 1990’s for a solo career. He continued to record singles into the 2000’s, with some local success. He died after a long battles with Multiple sclerosis and lung cancer.
