A keyboardist, he will be remembered for his association with Carole King and Todd Rundgren. The Los Angeles native joined the late 1960s Psychedelic music scene initially as a member of the local band “Clear Light” when he was eighteen and under the Electra label, they recorded the self-titled album in the spring of 1967, which was produced by Paul A.

Rothchild (best known as the producer for “The Doors”). He shared keyboard work with Leon Russell for “The Monkees” score “The Porpoise Song” (1968) which became notable from their album and film “Head” and went on to the band “The Peanut Butter Conspiracy” with who he contributed to the album “For Children of All Ages” (1969). Beginning in the early 1970s, he made a name for himself as a solid studio musician for James Taylor and followed this with Carole King’s debut album “Writer” (1970).

On King’s classic, Grammy Award-garnered album “Tapestry” (1971), he played the electric piano on the singles “It’s Too Late” (which received a number one placing on the Pop Charts for five-weeks and gold record status) and “Smackwater Jack.” He went on to contribute to King’s follow-up album “Music” (1971).

He contributed to Todd Rundgren’s solo albums “A Wizard, a True Star” (1973) and “Todd” (1974), before joining Rundgren’s progressive band “Utopia,” prior to the recording of their self-titled, debut album in 1974.

During the 1980s, he was identified for his television compositions with the shows “Kate and Allie (1984 to 1989) and “Another World” (1987 to 1996). Additionally, he is remembered for his work on the animated film “Pokemon: The First Movie- Mewtwo Strikes Back” (1998).
