He was best known for his popular book “Megatrends: Ten New Directions Transforming Our Lives, which was published in 1982. After studying at Harvard, Cornell, and the University of Utah, he worked at IBM and Eastman Kodak.
During the 1960s, he worked in the political world under both the Kennedy and Johnson Adminstrations. He left Washington in 1966 and went to work at Science Research Associates. Two years later, he founded his own company, the Urban Research Corporation.
In 1982, his first book, “Megatrends: Ten New Directions Transforming Our Lives,” became a best -seller and was published in 57 countries. He would go on to pen seven more books on the topic of “futures studies.” He also advised several foreign governments and was a professor at several international universities.
