For four seasons (1972 to 1976), he played at the power forward position in the National Basketball Association with the New York Knicks. Born Harthorne Nathaniel Wingo, he made his first impression on the basketball court during his years at Tryon High School in North Carolina.

He attended Friendship Junior College, prior to playing with the Allentown Jets of the Eastern Professional Basketball League.

He signed with the New York Knicks in 1973 and experienced a NBA Championship that year. He expanded his professional career an additional four years in Europe (1976 to 1980). In 212 career regular season NBA games, he compiled 1,023 points.
