He made his initial impact on the basketball court during his years at East High School in Ohio. He enrolled at Ohio State University where he played collegiate basketball and during his years with the Buckeyes, he captained the 1983 squad, in addition to being a key contributor to three NCAA Tournament berths.
Selected by the Portland Trailblazers during the 2nd round of the 1993 NBA Draft, he was acquired by the Indiana Pacers in a trade prior to the 1983-1984 season. During his rookie season (1983-1984), he produced a career high 277 points and 227 total rebounds.
While with Houston, he was a member of the Rockets’ team which reached the NBA Finals in 1986. While with the Chicago Bulls (1986 to 1988), he was a teammate of Michael Jordan. In 249 career NBA regular season games, he compiled 606 points with 540 rebounds. After his NBA career, he played an additional two-season professionally in Spain.
