Eulalio Cervantes Galarza, better known as Sax, began his artistic career at the age of eleven, as a saxophonist and clarinetist in high school, where he was part of the Youth Orchestra.
He also won children’s singing competitions at the state level, performing music of various genres, as regional and popular.
At the age of thirteen he participated in a children’s musical presentation at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, being requested on television programs in his native state, becoming known for his ability to improvise with wind instruments. A year later, at fourteen, he began composing music and lyrics.
He entered the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City, where he studied harmony, composition, clarinet, saxophone, singing, piano, and music history.
In 1986 he registered his first work, “Aún siento que te amo,” recorded by the group La Legión. That same year he met the ska group Maldita Vecindad y Los Hijos del Quinto Patio, of which he is co-founder, composer of lyrics and music, co-producer and performer of saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, flute, drums, bass. , guitar, piano, accordion, among other instruments.
Among his compositions are “Kumbala,” “Pachuco,” “Pata de perro,” “Mojado,” “Morenaza,” and “Un poco de sangre.” As a musician, he has participated with important rock groups in Spanish: Mano Negra, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and Los Auténticos Decadentes, among others.
