For five seasons (1978 to 1982), he played at the nose tackle and defensive end positions in the National Football League with the Kansas City Chiefs.
He attended Amos P. Godby High School in Florida and played collegiate football at the University of Pittsburgh. While with the Panthers, he experienced a consensus national title (1976) which culminated with a Sugar Bowl win against Georgia.
Selected by the Atlanta Falcons during the 12th round of the 1977 NFL Draft, he ended up with the Kansas City Chiefs and totaled 71 career regular season games. In 1981, he produced a career-high 3 fumble recoveries. After retiring as a player, he coached high school football.
