He was best known to television viewers as the long-running villain Ba’al on the science fiction adventure series “Stargate SG-1” from 2001 to 2007. From an early age, he was very athletic, participating in gymnastics and swimming before shifting his main focus to swimming.
He qualified for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles before leaving the United Kingdom for his native South Africa. He later joined the South African air force where he continued swimming. After his tour of duty in the air force finished, he went to work at a resort hotel. It was at the resort hotel where he got his start in the entertainment business, as a stage acrobat/dancer. He later turned from the stage to acting.
In 1991, he got his television start on the series “Egoli: Place of Gold.” Besides “Stargate SG-1,” his later television credits would include “Nash Bridges,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Days of Our Lives,” and “Personal Space.” He also appeared in such films as “Operation Delta Force 5: Random Fire,” (2000) and “Project Eden.” (2017) He passed away due to a tragic kiteboarding accident.
