He was best known to film viewers as a drug dealer in the 1987 film “Lethal Weapon.” Born John Michael Kiedis, he changed his name to Blackie Dammett while living in Los Angeles and before he got his start in acting. In 1977, he made his debut on the television series “Charlie’s Angels.”

He would go on to appear in such series as “Starsky and Hutch,” “Magnum P.I.,” “Trapper John M.D.,” “Night Court,” “Santa Barbara,” and “The New Adam-12.” A year later, he appeared in the short animated film “Jokes My Folks Never Told Me.”

Besides “Lethal Weapon,” he would go on to appear in such films as “The Lady in Red,” (1979) “Class Reunion,” (1982) “Doctor Detroit,” (1983) “Meatballs Part II,” (1984) and “The Boys Next Door.” (1985) After leaving acting in 1990, he went to Michigan to raise wolves and wolf hybrids. His son Anthony was the lead vocalist of the rock group Red Hot Chili Peppers.
