He first appeared on film in 1950’s ‘Side Street’ in an uncredited role, but would later go on to become a familiar character actor in several dozen films, among them ‘Thunderbirds’ (1952), ‘Johnny Guitar’ (1954), ‘The Last Command’ (1955), ‘Duel at Apache Wells’ (1957), ‘Chartroose Caboose’ (1960), ‘Gunfight at Comanche Creek’ (1963), ‘Arizona Raiders’ (1965), ‘The Fastest Guitar Alive’ (1967) and ‘One More Train to Rob’ (1971).

On television, he would have roles in such TV shows as ‘Suspense,’ ‘Tales of Wells Fargo,’ ‘Johnny Ringo,’ ‘Wagon Train,’ ‘The Westerner,’ ‘The Rifleman,’ ‘Bonanza,’ ‘Laramie,’ ‘Rawhide,’ ‘Gunsmoke,’ ‘The Virginian,’ and ‘The Fall Guy.’ Cooper, who in 2005 won a Golden Boot Award for his work in westerns, died from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.
